The Smithsonian Folklife Festival (1967-present, formerly the Festival of American Folklife) is an annual event on the National Mall sponsored by the Smithsonian. In its 40 year history it has featured performers, crafts people, and local community groups from numerous states and foreign countries. The Rinzler Archives hold the audio recordings, photographs, videotapes, and paper records of both the Festival and the field research which precedes it.  Finding aids with collection inventories are being prepared for various Festival years and programs, and will be posted as soon as they are available. There is an index to Festival finding aids already posted.
