PUERTO RICAN MUSIC IN HAWAI'I: Kachi-Kachi Sound
Recorded and annotated by Ted Solis. A fascinating 16 track collection of dance
music that creates a panorama of Puerto Rican musical life in Hawai'i and bears
a striking resemblance to Tex-Mex conjunto music. Artists include Charles Figueroa,
Virginia Rodrigues, Glenn Ferreira, and others.

HAWAIIAN DRUM DANCE CHANTS: Sounds of Power in Time
Compiled and annotated by Elizabeth Tatar. Made between 1923 and 1989, these
recordings feature solo chants or chanting accompanied by dancers, drum, and
percussion. Chants for prayer, chiefs, and documenting history and genealogy
are rich traditions still maintained by a handful of Pahu masters.
